Given how long it took me to get this set up I think it behooves me to actually use it, even if the most exciting thing that's going on is reading Daveamongus' updates. Sad, but true... but we do have one thing in common, we're both learning a langauge, although his is more like a 'quick learn this so you can translate in a war-torn, hostile country' and mine's 'in 5 years you may be bilingual if you're lucky and then we'll give you an extra $800 a year' so maybe not as stressful, but I'm still enjoying it. I'm in my second 3 month french course, also known as bloc 2. Also like Dave I'm receiving this traing through work AND we both work for our respective governments... how cute. I do wish they'd let me have a pistol though.
I'm feeling a little strained with the french twice a week, going back to full time and also working a bit of overtime because we're handling calls for British Columbia after our centre would have normally shut down. I think there's something about the high humidity on the west coast that causes people's brains to fall to mush and make them only ask retarded questions like 'when am I getting my family allowance' Well first of all it hasnt' been called that since 1989 and second of all, the same day that it comes every month. Screw it, let's be Americans... no social programs for anyone! (Waits for the heavy fire...)
Of course without these low income people who can't keep track of their finances from month to month I wouldn't have nearly as much work, but I still work for the Agency that provides our government with 90% of their revenue. And just to prove I *have* been paying attention in my french class: Je suis appartien l'Agence du Revenue du Canada.
Wait! Something of terrific excitement has happened as of late... I finally found a hockey pool! granted it's now halfway through the season and I don't have a hope of catching up in points now but still.. It's not like the pool that I knew and loved in Thompson it's one only for weekend games and you pick the winners of the games that are played between Friday (vendredi) and Sunday (dimanche) ok, so it's not terrifically exciting but it's something I enjoyed and had some success with in the past so *I'm* excited. This is my second week; my first week wasn't stellar I only got 5 right out of 15 but so far this week I had 3 of the 5 games tonight (damn Anaheim anyhow, they're supposed to suck without Kariya) I have something to prove here, I'm the only girl on our floor in the pool.
Well, that's my attempt at journalling (it's a word, I just made it up) for today. Au revoir!
